Come, Write With Us
One of AWA's many offerings
Want to start a new writing project? Stalled on a current one? Missing NaNoWriMo?
Throughout November, AWA is offering WriteNow sessions, which borrow their structure from the popular Pyjama Writing sessions of AWA Affiliate Sue Reynolds.
It’s convivial, companionable, fun, and free!
Many of us writerly folks have found that writing with others has many benefits, not least of which is accountability, i.e, bum in chair. Showing up for an hour first thing in the morning helps us start the day off right (write!), and being close to the dream state offers a liminal sort of sweetness.
How it works
Every day, Monday through Friday in November, across multiple time zones, you can drop in and write with us for an hour on Zoom. The time is yours to devote to your own projects. We hope the connection with a community of fellow writers inspires you to show up and make consistent progress.
Once registered for your time-zone(s)-of-choice, you simply join the Zoom invite we sent. After greetings, participants are muted but asked to keep cameras on. We then work on our own writing projects for the next 55 minutes. In the last five minutes, if you like, you can share in the Chat a maximum of 50 words of what you were working on, give strength-based feedback or emojis to the work of others, and perhaps receive some feedback yourself. And that’s it!
“Genius often emerges where there is intimate support for it.”
~ Pat Schneider

"Writing with others has many benefits, not least of which is accountability, i.e. bum in chair." Perfectly expressed, Deepam. Thank you!
